The patterns on the blankets and the cuts in the mirrors would have kept me distracted for hours if you didn’t exist.
You stop my brain from working properly.
You always did.
The wine and your smile and the music and your smile.
The reflections refracted into a thousand lines across the ceiling but all I could stare at was your eyes when you weren’t looking.
And sometimes when you were.
I’ve always wondered what you thought,
And second guessed myself every time I thought I had the answer.
But I remember that smile,
I remember your eyes,
And I remember that no matter how many times I tried to count the flowers on the blankets all I could think of was you.
And it looks the same as when you tell me you love me.
