Perigee Nimbus

I like to imagine,

That somewhere deep in the cosmos.

There’s a world where it all works.

In every universe there’s a moon and a rain cloud so desperate to hold each other they bend the sky between them just to feel close.

Because when she glows the rain cloud forgets how to hold itself,

Softens into rain,

Comes undone just to reach her.

Emptying everything it is just to fall for her.

But when the seasons change,

The rain clouds are only passing.

Never meant to stay,

Only remembering how it felt to fall.

Except somewhere amongst all the stardust,

The seasons forget to change.

And I’ve been homesick for that feeling since it left.
