You don’t enter my thoughts,

You still them.

Conversations falter at the edges,

My mind slowly tearing at the seems.

The hands of time lose their grip,

Recklessly faltering at your breath.

The world doesn’t obey you,

It listens.

The claws of the day retract in front of you,

Softly, into velvet.

The sirens call hushes into a distant lullaby.

My restless heart – forever mid panic,

Finally remembers its beat.

Every clattering thought that shatters my ribs falls quiet to your presence.

Desire does not rush you,

It circles,

Reverent.

Even hunger understands that there are altars you can’t desecrate.

You stand here – never fragile,

But luminous.

A hush before a conversation,

Like a secret spoken against a throat that trusts the mouth that approaches.

When you look at me,

The chaos I have worn like armour falls gently from my shoulders.

Unguarded, aching,

And so terrifyingly alive in a way that only love can make me feel.

I want to be louder for you,

To swallow the noise you have endured.

Press my devotion along your pulse,

Until you believe you don’t have to silence the world alone.

Because when you stand there,

And the whole world bows,

It’s not power that I see.

It’s the exquisite loneliness of someone who chaos fears to touch.

And I would ruin myself,

Gladly.

Just to be the one sound that you let through.
