Bubbles.

With my fingers in your hair,

Our legs locked together,

My arm across your chest:

I’m suddenly nowhere and everywhere all at once.

I’m exactly where I want to be and exactly where I never want to leave.

There’s still a thousand noises in my head,

But they align in perfect symmetry creating an image of you so vivid it feels like I’ve been blind my whole life.

Every pore of my body desperately reaches for you,

Your pull asking nothing of me except to stay.

The way the moon holds the ocean,

You make the distance feel impossible.

Skin to skin and I’m still never close enough.

In that moment,

I feel ever fleeting.

Knowing it will end despite how still your gravity keeps me.

A brief moment in space I can forever be at peace with,

Exactly how it is.

But that’s the problem with bubbles,

They’re always made of almost.
