How do you say something you don’t understand?
And how do you say something you’ve said a hundred times already?
Saying the same thing over and over differently,
And still not being able to explain it.
Your smile ignites fires in me like a match struck in a room full of old letters.
Each one has your name on.
Your eyes are a quiet place I keep accidentally calling home.
You are gravity,
Always pulling me helplessly inward.
Your care undoes me gently,
A loose thread that knows exactly where I have been holding my breath.
Your passion makes me want to meet myself on the precipice of who I want to be.
My restraint is left looking for excuses.
I’m standing in an ocean,
Realising too late that I never learned how to swim.
So just let me float with you forever,
No longer scared of the depth.
As long as your arms are the horizon.
